The Shining Based Overlook Series
By RodneyHatfieldJr for ReviewsLet us travel back to the Overlook. HBO Max is reopening the ornate doors of the Overlook Hotel with a new horror-thriller series from J.J. Abrams. The streaming service has requested a series order to Overlook, inspired by and featuring iconic characters from Stephen King’s 1977 novel The Shining. Per the official description, Overlook “explores the untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction.
Overlook will be produced by Abrams’ production company Bad Robot. The new series will traditionally consist of one-hour episodes which should nicely develop the legendary lore sufficiently established in both The Shining and Doctor Sleep. It should be mentioned that the familiar name Overlook also doubled as the title for the unmade prequel to The Shining which was making rounds a few years ago in development limbo.
HBO Max is slated to launch on May 27th and cost $15 a month.
