Horror Movies to Watch on Tubi

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

With practically everyone staying at home during the pandemic, streaming sites are getting a workout. Most people have the big streamers like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney + and Hulu to wait out the quarantine. But those are not the only ones. The streaming service Tubi, has been thrust into the spotlight. Boasting over 20,000 movies, this little service is growing; and the best part it is completely free(except for commercials). I’ve been a subscriber(you don’t need to be to watch) since last fall, and am completely satisfied with it. My “Queue” list is huge. Going through the listings reminds me of the video store back when I was young. They have a wide range of movies for everyone. They have newer movies to classic silent classics. And I’m not even mentioning the different TV shows. And like the other streaming services, they add and delete films every month.

If you’ve got some free time on your hands (which we all do), take some time to watch some great horror movies on Tubi right now! I only went through the first 500 films, I have no clue how many is on there, and lets be honest; if you can not find something in that number. Then you can not be satisfied. I am listing as they come up on the page, so these are not in any order that I am aware of. My list may be different from yours, since I have been watching and have a queue list already. So use the search feature. And I am not posting anything earlier than modern horror(1980‘s), because then this would be a classic horror list.   tubitv.com

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974

Yea I know it’s the 70‘s, but it is TCM. So bite me. Tobe Hooper’s terror-tale of the cannibalistic Sawyer Family, slashing through Texas!

Hellraiser 1987

An interdimensional puzzle box, a skinless zombie, BDSM, well dressed demons, and buckets of blood.

Day of the Dead 1985

A group of scientists and military personnel are stuck inside an underground bunker as the zombie apocalypse threatens them above.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space 1988

This has aliens disguised as clowns terrorize an American town.  Extra points for having a balloon dog.

Sleepaway Camp 1983

This summer camp gone slasher is the definition of campy, with an ending you’ll remember.

Ginger Snaps 2000

This female coming-of-age film is probably the most refreshing werewolf movie you’ll ever see. The practical effects are especially good.

Frozen 2010

Have you ever thought about what would happen if you got left on a ski lift for days with no way to contact anyone? Well here you go. This survivalist arctic horror film will have you thinking twice before going on a ski trip.  Sorry no singing snowmen.

Ju-on: The Grudge 2002

Original, and best. A house haunts all of its inhabitants following a grisly murder inside its walls years prior. The little boy ghost is just strait up scary.

Train to Busan 2016

A businessman gets stuck on a train with his daughter in the midst of a zombie virus infecting South Korea.

ABCs of Death 1 & 2

The ABCs of Death are composed of 26 different shorts from different directors based on one letter in the alphabet. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes strange, almost always weird!

The Voices 2014

An off-kilter film about mental illness. He must decide whether to follow what his cat or his dog is saying, while working at a factory in a stylized world. Love the dog in this.

Repo! The Genetic Opera 2008

Blending rock songs with a highly-stylized future world in which there is an epidemic of organ failures leading to an organ loan program that kills you for not paying.  The only Paris Hilton movie I can stomach, because I didn't even notice it was her. How is she famous is beyond my mental comprehension.

Triangle 2009

A group of friends on a boat gets stuck in a storm but find an abandoned ship. The ship starts showing supernatural qualities and they find themselves being hunted by a killer while also experiencing intense déjà-vu

V/H/S 1-3

If you like anthology films, you’ll love VHS. These found footage shorts are made by some big horror directors

Troll Hunter 2010

André Øvredal first made waves with his very bizarre troll-centered found footage horror movie. A documentary crew investigates a series of bear killings in the area but find something more supernatural.

If that isn’t enough then just watch the Dark Shadows series they have that too.
