Evil Dead Alternate Ending

It has been 9 years since the Evil Dead remake with Director Fede Alvarez. To commemorate, he released some behind-the-scenes Polaroids from his personal collection, but that’s not all he’s showing off this week. Why he didn’t wait till the 10th year? I don’t know, maybe he was bored. Anyway, Alvarez has also taken to Twitter to share a never-before-seen Evil Dead alternate ending, this one concluding the film with Jane Levy‘s Mia being taken by the evil “force” out in the woods. With is pretty much the same ending from the original with Ash.

The version we got has Mia surviving her harrowing ordeal, but Alvarez was at one point toying with either making her fate unclear or killing her off completely. One of those endings was actually shot. The footage of the Evil Dead alternate ending would’ve left Mia’s fate quite unclear like Ash was in the original 1981.

Alvarez explains this is what was written originally. But Sam Raimi pointed out “after everything she’s been through, she deserves to live” so he rewrote it to the actual ending. You can check out that footage down below.

In that particular version of events, not only would the evil force out in the woods catch up with Mia, but it would quite literally tear her apart, exploding her into a bomb of blood! Check out the original script.
