Fresh Teaser for CHUCKY TV Series

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

When I saw this, it excited me. I am a fan of practical effects, and old-school robotics (not to mention classic horror). And this teaser checked all three boxes.

For those who have been living under a rock(or barricaded in a hermetically sealed room away from Covid), Chucky will be on Syfy this fall. Devon Sawa (personal favorite Idle Hands) stars with Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), and Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN 15). Naturally, we will have franchise favorites Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Fiona Dourif. Franchise creator Don Mancini will write, serve as showrunner, direct the pilot, and executive produce with David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Frailty), Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero), and Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Channel Zero).

The synopsis is as follows: The story begins after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a yard sale. An American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders expose the town's hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings. As well as the doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Mancini says the show will use almost “100 percent puppetry” which we see in the teaser. He also said he thought it’s so important to keep Chucky as a practical puppet effect, partly because it’s important for the actors to have something to respond to on set. He also added that he thought it is important that Chucky have the feel of a doll, of a puppet. He should be a “little bit herky-jerky”.

This new update makes me a happy camper. The new teaser for CHUCKY TV Series Invites You to Reconnect with an Old Friend. Are you excited to reconnect with Chucky this fall? What do you think of the new teaser?
