Firestarter’ First Incendiary Trailer

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

I have a love, hate relationship with Stephen King. Meaning I am a fan of probably half his work, and a hater on the other half. He has some great stories, but some of the endings are terrible. Which makes the whole book unreadable. He is one of the main reasons why I prefer short stories. If the endings suck, I didn’t invest a week, or in the Dark Tower series, years into a horrible ending. Thankfully Firestarter is one of the books I like. And the original film is passable, it isn’t quite book-worthy, nor is it reimagined as The Shining. For myself, Firestarter was the weakest of the Steven King films.

Now we have a Firestarter reboot. This adaptation has promised to be a lot more true to the book than the Drew Berrymore adaptation was. The new film is directed by Keith Thomas; starring Zac Efron, Sydney Lemmon, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.  This trailer has me looking forward to watching.

The synopsis for Firestarter goes like this:

For more than a decade, parents Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon) have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family’s location, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes) is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.

Firestarter is scheduled for release on May 13th.
