Jason Rising: A Friday the 13th Fan Film

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

10 years ago a fan film would never generate any buzz unless it was groundbreaking, or extremely bad. However, now is a completely different story. When you combine filming equipment the cheapest it has ever been, and every other FX channel giving how-to videos on everything from makeup to prosthetics; the difficulty has decreased in making a good film.

I was sent Jason Rising recently. I have watched more fan films than I can count, and most are average to awful. But this one was one of the rare ones. It is a solid (non-canon) Friday story. Anyway enough with my commentary.

Adrienne King is Back as Alice Hardy in Friday the 13th Fan Film Jason Rising. Directed by James Sweet, fan film Jason Rising can be watched in a 57-minute movie written by James Sweet and Vincente DiSanti.

Jason Rising goes as followed: Wessex County Police Officer Pete Daltry (Kyle Vahan) and his Deputy Eve Glover (Anna Campbell), along with U.S. Marshals Jed (Jason Reynolds) and Bear (Jerry Bell Jr.), hot on the trail of three escapees (Lisa Sorenson, Jennie Vaughn, Elizabeth Garrett) from the Wessex County Corrections Farm. Soon after realizing their chase has led them onto the cursed grounds of Camp Crystal Lake, Daltry quickly discovers that they are the ones being hunted by the undead mass murderers Jason Voorhees (Dan Kyle) and his deranged mother Pamela (Alyxandria McCormack).”

Honestly it would make an excellent addition to the franchise. Even if the film isn’t to your liking, it keeping the franchise alive and in the public eye. Because who knows how long it will be until we get a new Friday with all the legal battles.
